Hungry Girl

Written by Ella Pegan

Hungry Girl is a one-woman show that invites audiences into the mind and changing room of a young woman as she ponders capitalism, consumption, calories, and why she can never find any goddamned jeans that fit over her thighs.

Genesis of the Show:

My first job was at Starbucks, where I worked for over two years. At the beginning and end of each shift, along with during every break, employees are able to get one free drink of any size with any modifications. I noticed that as I was earning more money than I ever had before in my life, I was also eating more calories than ever before. Now, as a recent escapee of my teenage years, I still feel the affect of that relationship between money and food, and I want to explore it the best way I know how - through writing.
