Y2GAYY
Created by Kyle Cameron / Annie G’Nish
Performed by Kyle Cameron / Annie G’Nish and Bish Chant
Annie has a moment of clarity- her life SUCKS because of the breakup of the Spice Girls. Get ready to Spice Up Your Life as she travels back to Y2K to prevent the split of one of the world's biggest girl groups. Girl Power.
Genesis of the Show:
A big "A-ha!" moment was hearing the song "XOXOY2K" by Alaska 5000 and wanting to do a performance of that song, which got me to thinking... Why would Annie go back to the year 2000 if she could? And the answer was simple... To infiltrate the most popular girl-group-musical-cultural-phenomenon in order to save it... from itself. And thus, Y2GAYY was born! A lot of the music that inspires who Annie is comes from the late 90s/early 2000s so it was a plot/design made in heaven. (G)A(y)-Men.

… is an Ottawa based Drag artist coming at you by way of the East Coast. Her drag is visually loud, and combines goofy antics with nostalgia and emotive performances. This is her second show at Fresh Meat as Annie after her first one-queen show Little Orphan Annie, in 2019. Annie likes to highlight storytelling as the motive that drives her art-particularly personal storytelling that provides an analytic examination of her own identity and role in the world... Or is just a funny and oftentimes humiliating thing that happened to her. Check out Annie on IG @anniegnish
Bish Chant (she/her)
… is a former student of the Algonquin College theatre arts department who is delighted to be back on stage for the first time in nearly 5 years. Her passions include puppies, kitties, candy, and sunsets, which makes playing the role of Baby spice a dream come true! Outside of theatre, she practices her physical comedy daily by being a proper klutz on the regular and falling down open manhole covers when the opportunity presents itself. Inside of theatre she's trapped, like a mime in an invisible box! Please send help!
